Cornelia, also known as Coneria, is a town from the original Final Fantasy. It is located just south and east of the Chaos Shrine, and serves as the game's starting point. Princess Sarah of Cornelia has been kidnapped by Garland, but the Warriors of Light rescue her and the King of Cornelia has a broken bridge rebuilt to allow the Light Warriors to travel to Pravoka. The town is built just below Castle Cornelia.

The Chaos Shrine, also known as the Temple of Fiends in the NES and Temple of Chaos in the PlayStation port, is a location in the original Final Fantasy, and is in ruins at the time of the game. It is located at the center of the archipelago in which Final Fantasy takes place. The shrine also features a Dark Crystal in Garland's chamber.

Elfheim, also known as Elfland (エルフの国 Erufu-no Kuni "elf-country"), is a town in the original Final Fantasy. Located southwest of Cornelia, it is the home of the elves.

Crescent Lake is a town from the original Final Fantasy. It is located on the southeastern island in the archipelago where the game takes place and is in on the shore of a lake that is shaped like a crescent. The Circle of Sages is located here.

The Cardia Islands, also known as Dragon Caves, are a group of islands in the original Final Fantasy. Beneath the islands are caves in which dwell a race of non-aggressive dragons who are ruled by their king, Bahamut. Bahamut is willing to grant power to any warriors skilled and courageous enough to brave the Citadel of Trials and return with proof of their bravery.

Onrac, also known as Onlak in the PlayStation port, is a town from the original Final Fantasy. It is located on the northwestern island of the archipelago where the game takes place. The Sunken Shrine is found underwater, near the shore.

Lufenia, or Lefein, is a city in the original Final Fantasy. It is the second home of the last members of the Lufenian race, who originally dwelled in a castle in the skies. This fortress was taken over by the Wind Fiend, Tiamat, and so the Lufenians fled and sought shelter on the surface world.

The Yahnikurm Desert, also known as the Great Desert, is a location in the original Final Fantasy. It makes up the core of the Lufenian continent, in the northeast corner of the World Map. The Great Desert is also the largest desert in the game, and the Mirage Tower lies in its center. The rest of the Great Desert is simply a huge expanse of sand, and there are places within it where sand is all the player's field of vision can see.

Board Description
FINAL FANTASY ONE,

The game begins with the appearance of the four youthful Warriors of Light, the protagonists of the story. The Warriors of Light each carry a darkened Crystal, one of each element. They arrive at Cornelia, a powerful kingdom that has just witnessed the kidnapping of its princess, Sarah, by a rogue knight named Garland who wants to acquire the kingdom. The Warriors of Light travel to the ruined Chaos Shrine in the corner of Cornelia, defeat Garland, and return Princess Sarah home. The grateful King of Cornelia builds a bridge that enables the Warriors of Light passage east of the country.
